Oil paintings by Steven

Current/in progress

I don't know why I'm having problems with colors with this piece. I've understood how to manipulate colors for years.

I have no rhyme or reason fopr painting this. But that is the point. 95 percent of what I learn is learned by mistake. It is my hope that, by painting whatever, I will stiumble over new techniques. It took me nearly 20 years to master line art. I may not have that long to master brush art in my style, whatever that will be.

By altering the direction of the back house, it made the bird next to it awkward, almost like it could fall out of the sky.

By ignoring the edges, and focusing on the colors, this is starting to work

I'm also removing all paint strokes by not creating the stroke.

The HSVW is all off. But I may be able to salvage it on my next coat.

The art only make sense if you keep staring at it and figuring out what it means

By altering the stars' colors depth is created along with the movement.

Plus the trees create more depth.

keeping the trees grounded works best, but the depth is working. The overlaying works too.

It worked this time. The colors are closer.
